Liverpool face Ajax, Atalanta and Midtjylland in the group stages of this year’s Champions League as they begin their quest for a seventh title.
The Premier League champions were knocked out at the last-16 stage of last season’s competition by Atletico Madrid in one of the final games played before the coronavirus shutdown hit football.
The season before that, however, Jurgen Klopp‘s men had lifted the famous trophy in Madrid thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham, which in turn made up for their 2017/18 final defeat to Real Madrid.
As champions of England, the Reds were afforded a place in pot one, meaning they could not draw any of the other top seeds, including the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
