International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme requires all candidates to write a 4000 word independent, self-directed piece of Research Extended Essay.

This survey is being conducted in collaboration with the IB Extended Essay Project. The aim of this survey is to look at the role allusions in music play to create a wider reception and diversity in the audience. More specifically, to explore:

How the use of allusion in Hozier’s Take me To Church (2013) and R.E.M’s Losing My Religion (1991) allows for a wider reception of the song by the creation of distinct groups of audiences.
