Is there any point in making an artist website?

I’ve seen quite a lot of articles online that seem to recommend artists have their own websites, talking about it being a “central landing page” basically. Thing is, I don’t buy it. For a really famous artist like Drake or Tame Impala, yea I can see it being useful, but what about an artist that’s nowhere near that level of fame? As in someone who makes music in their bedroom and probably has only 10 fans. At what point does it actually become useful?
