I’ve decided to try and write my first song!

So I want to write my own american folk/blues song and I can’t stop changing my mind on chord progressions. Any tips? Any chord progressions you suggest? I love Dylan and Cash obviously and I eill probably try to do a simple progression like cash for my first song. As far as lyrics go I have no idea where my inspiration will come from, I want to play a progression then hum a melody and then come up with lyrics.
