Load shedding a possibility as wage demands start

Eskom has warned of load shedding this coming week as union wage demands start.

Employees are demanding a 15% wage increase, doubling of their housing allowance, widening of family leave and a 64% increase in car allowance to R10,000. Eskom is set to begin wage talks with unions NUM, Numsa and Solidarity.

During the 2018 labour action, South Africans were hit with load shedding as coal trucks dumped their coal in front of power station gates.
