It’s official: South Africans can throw their facemasks away!

It’s official! From midnight tonight (Thursday 23 June 2022) South Africans no longer have to wear facemasks.

SA Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla amended the rules in the Government Gazette, making it official. The need to be vaccinated to enter South Africa was also dropped.

The decision comes after months of appeals from various roleplayers for the Covid-19 regulations in South Africa to be scrapped. This became a reality as the 5th wave of the Pandemic finally ended. Dr. Phaahla is expected to address the media today with a more detailed statement.
