Petrol price hike surprise for December

It will cost a little more to get to your holiday destination this December.

The Department of petroleum and Mineral Resources announced today that petrol will be going up by 17 cents per litre for both grades and between 54 and 56 cents per litre for diesel.

Illuminating Paraffin will see an increase of 49 cents per litre and LPGAS will increase by 172 cents per kg.

The Central Energy Fund said that the average international product prices for petrol decreased whilst diesel and illuminating paraffin increased during the period under review.

Despite the price decrease in international products for petrol, the rand depreciated against the US dollar during the period under review, on average, when compared to the prior period.
