Kidnapped Gqeberha teacher is safe home

UPDATE: The 45-year-old Happydale Special School teacher in Gqeberha was released by her kidnappers early this morning. She is reportedly unharmed but very traumatized. The Hawks in the Eastern Cape earlier confirmed that a ransom demand has been made but the amount was not disclosed.

Authorities are investigating the abduction of a 54-year-old teacher from Happydale Special School, which occurred early this morning (Monday 24 March 2025) shortly after her arrival on the premises.

Security camera footage captured the incident, showing the teacher pulling into the school parking lot before a white Toyota Corolla parked behind her. Four armed suspects then forcibly removed her from her vehicle and transported her in their car.

At this time, the motive behind the kidnapping remains unclear, and no ransom demand has been reported. Law enforcement agencies are actively working on the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.
