FlySafair has confirmed that the strike by a portion of its pilots has officially ended following the signing of an agreement between the airline’s management and trade union Solidarity. The deal was reached today after weeks of negotiations facilitated by the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
The airline will now begin restoring its full flight schedule, with all aircraft returning to service. FlySafair says the additional capacity should help stabilise airfares in the coming weeks as more seats become available across its network.
“We are pleased to have reached a constructive resolution that allows us to move forward together,” said Kirby Gordon, the airline’s Chief Marketing Officer. He thanked the CCMA, staff, and passengers for their patience and support during the dispute.
The strike, which had caused disruptions in recent weeks, involved only a portion of FlySafair’s pilot workforce, with other pilots and crew working to maintain operations. The airline says it is now focused on delivering safe, reliable, and affordable air travel.
